About the STEM Student of the Year Scholarship
The AOC Foundation provides scholarships to students in their sophomore or junior year of college. Each year, one male and one female student studying engineering or engineering technology and interested in working in the aerospace and defense industry are awarded scholarships of $12,500 each. We are grateful for the generosity of RTXÂ for funding these scholarships.
Nominations are now closed for 2025.
Eligibility
- Applicant must be a U.S. citizen
- Applicants must be registered as a full-time student in the sophomore or junior year of an undergraduate engineering or engineering technology study at the time of application submission in an accredited college/university
- Academic excellence in a study relating to signals collection, signals processing, cyber technologies (offensive/defensive), electronic transmission & receipt of signals, spectrum visualization, and similar fields of study with interest or potential contribution to the defense or aerospace industry or other government agencies is preferred
- Applicants must have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale)
- Interest and potential future contribution to national defense (based on the student essay)
Selection Criteria
- Academic excellence in engineering or engineering technology area of study.
- Student essay that outlines interest in and potential future contribution to national defense.
Selection
- Students are selected by an independent organization not affiliated with AOC or the AOC Foundation. The selected students' names, degree programs, expected graduation years, essays, and nominations (if any) will be presented to the AOC Foundation Scholarship Committee for routine confirmation of the selection process. No financial information is requested.
Deadline and Award Notice
- Scholarship funds will be awarded through the selected students' educational institution in the students' names for tuition for the Fall Semester 2025. For students attending educational institutions that cannot accept funds limited to tuition expenses, scholarship funds will be awarded to the institution to be applied to the financial support of other programs authorized by the educational institution, including loan programs, military clothing/equipment issue expenses, etc. accrued during a student's tenure.

About the AOC Educational Foundation
The scholarship program is administered by the AOC Educational Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit foundation dedicated to awarding scholarships and grants that assist military enlisted personnel and US undergraduate students studying engineering, physics, mathematics, and related disciplines. The foundation also supports STEM education relating to the electromagnetic spectrum to middle and high school students around the world.
