AOC Committees
About AOC's Committees
AOC has several committees that help the association achieve its mission in support of its members and the larger electromagnetic warfare and spectrum operations community. Each committee, while also supported by AOC staff, has its own charter, structure, and volunteer leadership.
The Advocacy and Technical Advisory Committee provides subject matter expertise and peer review and generates networking opportunities with stakeholders across government, industry, military, and academia in support of the association’s advocacy efforts and technical programs.

The Annual Symposium Committee plans and executes the AOC’s International Convention & Symposium, guiding all aspects from initial concept and themes to logistics and speaker coordination. The committee interfaces directly with government, industry, military, and EMSO stakeholders to deliver a world-class symposium experience.

The Awards Committee recognizes individual and unit excellence and contribution to furthering the goals and mission of AOC.

The Editorial Committee provides strategic direction for AOC’s published content, ensuring it aligns with its mission, serves members and the broader community, and advances knowledge in the field. The committee ensures publications remain current and relevant by monitoring trends and developments in the field.

The Empowering Women in EW Committee aims to provide educational, networking, mentorship and mentoring, and career development opportunities to help professional women advance in their careers and become engaged, active members of AOC.

The Ethics Committee ensures successful, efficient, and trustworthy business and personnel practices, procedures, and processes across the association.

The Executive Committee is responsible for the business and financial affairs of the association. The committee ensures that the resolutions of the Board are properly administered and that actions requiring authorization between meetings of the Board are authenticated and approved.

The Finance Committee prepares and gains approval by the Board of Directors and the Board of Governors an operating budget for the current year for the AOC and the AOC Foundation. The committee also assists the Board in executing the budget as approved.

The Foundation Community Education Committee expands AOC’s information and networking efforts supporting our chapters, their communities, and potential employers/employees through university, mission-related organizations, and museum partnerships.

The Foundation Development Committee oversees the foundation’s fundraising and philanthropic efforts and ensures the foundation has the revenue to carry out its mission.

The Foundation EMS-STEM Committee supports STEM activities across AOC’s chapters and provides resources, guidance, and collaboration to help chapters effectively plan and execute their own initiatives.

The Foundation Scholarship Committee oversees and manages the AOC Foundation’s scholarship program. This includes ensuring the fair and equitable distribution of scholarships, aligning the program with the association’s mission and values, and fostering academic and professional development among recipients.

The Future Leaders Committee aims to provide educational, networking, and career development opportunities to help young professionals advance in their careers and become engaged, active members of the association.

The Governance Committee provides ongoing review and recommendations to enhance the quality and future viability of the Board.

The History Committee captures and shares AOC’s history. The committee collects, preserves, and responsibly stores written and oral histories, photographs, materials, and paraphernalia.

The Human Resources Committee assists the Board in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities through the implementation of sound compensation and personnel policies and practices.

The International Advisory Committee encourages the involvement of non-US members in the overall scope of the AOC. The committee also helps establish new international chapters and ensures that AOC’s global events meet the association’s goals and objectives.

The Membership Committee formulates and implements programs to expand AOC membership and chapters globally.

The Nominations & Elections Committee identifies potential future members of the AOC’s Board of Directors and manages the selection process for those leadership roles.

The Past Presidents Committee provides a forum for past Board presidents to comment on and discuss various AOC projects, programs, and initiatives allowing them to remain active participants in the association’s success.

The Professional Development Committee develops and implements professional development strategies to support the full spectrum of AOC membership. The committee monitors ongoing educational and training activities and advises leadership on professional development matters.

The Security Ad-Hoc Committee ensures AOC Security Policy follows necessary government guidelines and meets the association’s security access needs to meet stakeholder and membership requirements.

The Strategic Planning Committee provides the President and Board of Directors with strategic planning, foresight, and relevant situational awareness to enable better decision-making by AOC leadership.

The Summit Planning Committees support AOC-sponsored and co-sponsored summits and events in the US. The committees provides subject matter guidance and assistance to ensure the success of these events.
Each summit has its own volunteer committee. To serve on one of these committees, email AOC's Senior Meetings & Logistics Manager Christine Armstrong and include your background, relevant experience and summit for which you'd like to contribute. View the full list of summits.
Volunteer on an AOC Committee
Volunteering is a great way to get even more value from your AOC membership. AOC’s open call for volunteers takes place July 15-August 31 each year. All committee members must be active AOC members.
