Initial tactics and training (five crews and four modified F-100Fs) are developed for project Wild Weasel I. Using aircraft specially equipped with radar seeking missiles, forces are tasked with destroying the radars and SAM installations of enemy air defense systems. Due to tight security, pilots and Electronic Warfare Officers (EWOs) are not clear on what they are volunteering for. “YGBSM” (You Gotta Be Sh***in’ Me!) becomes their unofficial motto.
