Volunteering is a great way to get even more value from your AOC membership. By serving on one of our committees, you’ll have the chance to help grow the association and make a direct and lasting impact on your fellow members. Our volunteer opportunities also provide invaluable networking and leadership development with experts at the forefront of global EW and EMSO community.

AOC’s open call for volunteers runs July 15-August 31, 2025. If you are interested in joining one of our committees, please fill out 2025 Call for Volunteers Form. Please review our committee descriptions and current volunteer opportunities below to find the best fit for your interests and expertise.

Committee leaders and staff liaisons will reach out to interested volunteers. Volunteer positions are subject to availability and selection by committee leadership. Please note: All committee members must be active AOC members.

Current Volunteer Opportunities for 2025

Annual Symposium Guide initial planning, contribute to the agenda and program, recommend and recruit speakers, and serve as Session Chair when needed. (Note: Currently recruiting for 2026 only.) 5-6 None Biweekly or weekly February/March through December
Awards Promote the AOC Awards Program, judge the nominations, review the awards Operations Manual, and work with the committee chair to create new awards when needed. Editorial Advisory Share ideas and opinions for what the Journal of Electromagnetic Dominance (JED) and other AOC communications, including From the Crows' Nest podcast, should be covering. Help us decide what members want to read/listen to on an ongoing basis. 10-15 None Every other month
Empowering Women in EW Provide ideas for range of new educational and networking events specifically for women in EW. Unlimited Women age 18+ Monthly
Foundation Community Education Create broader opportunities for exposure to electromagnetic spectrum activities in museums and universities, address workforce and talent pipeline challenges, encourage chapters to establish mentorship programs and events. 9 None Quarterly
Foundation Development Establish fundraising goals and an action plan, work with staff to raise money for the AOC Foundation, and take the lead in member outreach efforts. 7 None Quarterly
Foundation EMS-STEM Guide and assist the association and its chapter in planning and executing STEM-related activities and programs. 4 None Quarterly
Foundation Scholarship Formulate a fair and transparents scholarship evaluation process, review scholarship applications, promote the scholarship program, and oversee the budget allocated for scholarships. 5 None Quarterly
Future Leaders Provide ideas for range of new educational and networking events specifically for young professionals. 2-3 None Monthly
History Develop content for the History of Crows podcast, develop partnerships with military and history museums, and assist with other revelant association initiatives, including the AOC History Wall. Unlimited None Monthly
International Advisory Promote an exchange of ideas between the US and international membership of AOC, recommend future direction and provide ROI for international members, identify and promote international programs and events, explore and promote the establishment of new international chapters. 4 None To be determined
Nominations & Elections Recruit candidates for eligible/vacation Board positions, vet anticipated nominees, review the committee Operations Manual, and promote annual elections. Professional Development Recommend speakers and topics for educational programs throughout the year. Unlimited None Monthly
